“Bahrain Asphalt (BA) had been awarded a contract in 2006 to upgrade the existing Airstrip to an operational airbase, which included construction of runways, taxiways, aprons, drainage system, airfield ground lighting, high mast lighting, control tower, electrical substation, communication systems, etc. The work included 500,000 m3 of earth work, 270,000 m2 of asphalt runways and taxiways as well as concrete aprons which were carried out using the latest technologies in the field. Upon completion of the project in 2008, the execution of the complete road network in Sakhir Airbase was also awarded to BA”.
